The basics
Gambling is for adults only — 18+, or older where local law sets a higher age. Casino games have a built-in house edge, so over time the house wins. No strategy, bonus or payout speed changes that. Treat any money you gamble as the cost of entertainment, and never as a way to earn income, pay debts or recover losses.
Warning signs
- Spending more money or time than you planned, more often than not.
- Chasing losses — playing on to “win back” what you have lost.
- Cancelling withdrawals to keep playing with money you had decided to take out.
- Borrowing, selling possessions or using money meant for bills to gamble.
- Hiding gambling from people close to you, or feeling anxious or irritable when you are not playing.
- Gambling to escape stress, low mood or other problems.
If any of these sound familiar, it is worth talking to someone. You do not need to be in crisis to ask for help.
Practical tools
- Set a budget before you start and only deposit that amount. Most casinos offer deposit limits in account settings — set them while you are calm, not mid-session.
- Use time reminders or session limits where available, or a simple phone alarm.
- Withdraw winnings promptly and do not reverse a withdrawal. Our instant withdrawal guide explains how to make cashouts quick.
- Take a break or self-exclude through the casino's account tools. Note that offshore crypto casinos are generally not part of national schemes such as GamStop in the UK, so you may need to exclude at each site individually.
- Install blocking software such as Gamban or BetBlocker on your devices to block gambling sites across the board.
- Ask your bank about gambling transaction blocks, and consider limiting how easily you can buy crypto on exchanges.
